Yesterday, while we dug through thousands of tweets throughout the day about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, we noticed a few cautious tweeters asking questions about the next steps. Though it's an amazing moment for thousands of young people all over the country, no one is asking all those people who are lining up, "Now what?"
Here's the tweet that got us thinking:
Andalalucha
Am I the only one weary of deferred action? I'm seeing all the tweets celebrating but none questioning what happens to folks if Romney wins
Not to be a downer, but @Andalaucha has a point. What happens to all of these young people if there's a change in administration in a few months? The Romney camp has refused to say whether he'd allow policy to continue if elected. been Since the DACA doesn't actually make any guarantees and is only a temporary measure, how can the DREAMers further protect themselves?
Have you been thinking about the possible consequences for the thousands of young people signing up? If so, let us know your concerns in the comments.
